5 week adult ceramic course (term 3) - create your own vase

Course: Hand-Built Ceramics: Create Your Own Vase
When: 6:30pm – 9:00pm every Wednesday night for 5 weeks
Start Date: Tuesday July 22
End Date: Tuesday August 19
Location: 4 Marlborough St, Mosman Park
Price: $300 course fee + $30 clay fee
Age Group: Adults (Teenagers welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian)
Parking: Please park on the north side of Wellington St, parallel to Brown Park, to respect my neighbours.

Course Description:

Explore the timeless art of hand-building in this six-week ceramics course, where you'll design and create your own unique ceramic vase. You'll be guided through the key hand-building techniques of pinching, coiling, and slab construction. You’ll be encouraged to choose your preferred method—or combine them—to bring your vision to life, with step-by-step support and guidance from your instructor.

Whether you're completely new to ceramics or looking to deepen your practice, this course offers a warm, creative space to learn, experiment, and build something truly personal. By the end of the term, you'll have a beautiful, handmade vase that reflects your style and craftsmanship.

About Your Tutor:

Jasmine Raisbeck (b. 1986) is a Perth-based artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, and ceramics. Known for her organically shaped, hand-built pieces and a vintage-inspired aesthetic, Jasmine’s work is held in collections across Australia and she is stocked at Cleo Collects and Showroom-X. 

What to Bring:

• Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a bit messy (most materials wash out)
• A bottle of water
• No experience needed – just come with your creativity and willingness to learn!

What’s Included in the Course Fee:

• All tools, underglazes, and glazes (within fair use policy)
• Firing of works created in class
• Individual guidance on all three hand-building techniques

Clay Fee: A $30 clay fee is payable to the instructor. Each student will receive a full bag of clay to work at their own pace and scale.

Important Firing Policy:
Only works made during the course will be fired as part of the course fee. If you would like to fire pieces made outside of class, please discuss this with Jasmine. She may be able to fire them at an additional cost, or refer you to public kilns or community studios.

Registration and Cancellation Policy:

• Full payment is required at time of registration to secure your spot.

• No refunds will be issued for change of mind.

• If you need to cancel, please do so at least 14 days before the course begins to receive a credit toward a future class.

• Cancellations made less than 14 days before the start date are non-refundable, but you may transfer your place to someone else.
